Just
think of it this way. The typical single wooden sectional door ways in
at approximately 80kg and a double sectional door is double the weight
of the single sectional garage door. If anything should fail just think of the
damage or injury that that falling weight can cause.
- We can inspect
your garage doors and give you advise on what should be replaced if
necessary.
- If your door is
difficult to open or falls down when you want to close it then you
do have a problem.
- If your door
keeps on going skew or is sticky then you also have a problem.
-
DON'T use penetration oil (like Q20)
on your garage door! It's good on cars and such but your door does
not like it at all. Believe me.
-
Black grease, does nothing but
make us dirty when we are finally called out to fix the door or
operator.
Leaving it for to
long will only cause more damage to the components that are still in a
good condition.
If you have a
automated garage door then do yourself a favour and check it once
every 6
months or so by doing the following:
1.
Disengage the door motor.
2. Open the door so that the
third panel which will be the middle panel on a five panel door is
about 45° on
the arch of the guides.
3. This
is the "balancing point" of the garage door and it should stay there
if you let it go.
If the door closes by itself then the
torsion springs are; or not set correctly or needs replacing.
